The next book will be ‘The Elegance of the Hedgehog’ by Muriel Barbary.
The Elegance of the Hedgehog – L’Élégance du hérisson)
A novel by the French novelist and professor of philosophy Muriel Barbary. The book follows events in the life of a concierge whose deliberately concealed intelligence is uncovered by an unstable but intellectually precocious girl, the daughter of an upper-class family living in the Parisian apartment building where Renée works.
The novel was published in 2006 and this is translated into English by Alison Anderson.
All are welcome to join the group and we have copies of the chosen book for borrowing.

If you think you may have some of our books that are overdue please either renew them (in branch or over the phone) or return them when we reopen. We are establishing a system to send out overdue reminders which will incur a charge and be added to your account. This will be applicable to all Readers (green cards) including children. If you are a paid member we may still send you a reminder but you will not be charged.
If you are a paid member and joined before January 2015 please speak to Tina or Becky to see if your membership is due for renewal. This is a yearly subscription of £12 which gives you longer lending periods, no fines and discounts on printing. One subscription covers everyone who lives at the same address. If you wish to join or upgrade to this membership please speak to Tina or Becky who will be happy to advise. This money is used to support the activities of the community library.
Thank you for all your support so far and we hope to see you soon.

Becky, Piia and Tina (unable to attend) were part of the team at Welling Library that collected an award, and Amanda was there having collected an award for her work at Slade Green Library having received five nominations from members of the public.
We are not surprised that our Librarians are picking up wards for the levels of help and service they give library visitors. Well done.
We packed up Bexley Community Library on Saturday so that refurbishment work can start on Monday.
Looks weird all boxed up.
Many thanks to Becky for organising everything and to Margaret and Graham who helped with the boxing of books. Can’t wait tom see it all done up.
You can still return books to the Library. Put them through the door.
Don’t forget that your membership allows you to also use our Slade Green Community Library.
Bexley Community Library will close from 5.00pm on Friday 4th September 2015 for refurbishment work.

She is planning on reading I Could Be, You Could Be – it’s interactive, so there’s some singing, role play, and a few costumes – and then children (depending upon ages) can make very basic masks or do a wordsearch based on the book.
A FREE event in the community libraries.
Our Summer Event at the Library was a great success, enjoyed by all and raising £359.20 for future events and activities in the Library.
Many thanks to everyone who came, took part and especially to Tina for organising.
